Welcome to the Hillsboro Hounds
Since
1932, the Hillsboro Hounds has been providing it’s membership enjoyment of
the sport of mounted foxhunting.
In addition to this sport, we are active in preserving the countryside,
working with the Land Trust of Tennessee.
We also continue to provide volunteer support for putting on the
Iroquois Memorial Steeplechase, which was inaugurated by Hillsboro Hounds
Masters in 1941. Proceeds from
this steeplechase have gone to support the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s
Hospital at Vanderbilt University since 1981.
The Hillsboro
Hounds is active year-round. Our
season begins with cubbing in September, then formal hunting is November
through March. Other activities
include a hunter pace with terrier races , trail rides, and numerous social
events. The Iroquois Memorial
Steeplechase is in May, when we have our traditional Hunt Ball.
The
territory of the Hillsboro Hounds consists of rolling fields, hills and
wooded trails. We chase
primarily coyote, with some red and grey fox, as well as bobcat.
Our pack of crossbred hounds is ably hunted by professional huntsman
of 30 years, Johnnie Gray. We
provide 3 flights to accommodate riders of all levels.
We also have an active group of car followers.
Guests are
